Fundraising

At the end of 2011, I joined the Governors of St Mary & St John CEVA Primary School, North Luffenham to launch a fund-raising initiative to raise approximately £135,000 to build an additional classroom.

The popular village primary school had seen its pupil numbers increase, but was limited by the number of classrooms: six classrooms to accommodate seven year groups.  This meant that the older children in Key Stage 2 (Years 3 to 6) were being taught in mixed year classes.

Through a number of very well supported fund-raising events including a ball, sponsored bike-rides, open gardens, Summer fete, amongst others, the Parents & Friends Association raised over £40,000.  These funds were combined with grants, donations and contributions from Rutland County Council and Peterborough Diocese to achieve the target.
